When ImCon has full control over a project specification, we prefer specifying a stair tower instead of traditional scaffolding or ladders for access to roofs, windows, or walls. Stair towers offer enhanced safety compared to ladders, are less intrusive than roof hatches, and cause minimal disruption to building operations. Additionally, crews expend less energy moving on-site, improving overall efficiency. Stair towers also allow workers to carry small tools and materials without the need for cranes, lift beds, or rope systems, further boosting productivity. While security concerns may arise, these can be effectively addressed through the use of razor wire, fencing, surveillance cameras, and secure locks. A safer, more efficient jobsite ultimately benefits the Owner by reducing liability and supporting smoother project execution. Although the advantages of stair towers may not always be immediately visible, their impact on safety and risk mitigation is significant. Whenever possible, we insist on including stair towers in project specifications.
